Prayer Points:

“I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.  My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad.  Oh magnify the Lord with me, and let exalt his name together!”  Psalm 34 v 1-3

PCI Prayer Point 1: Answering God’s invitation to worship | Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Psalm 95:1. Ask God to help us respond to his invitation to find joy in him as we express our praise in song today.

PCI Prayer Point 2: Healthcare | Give thanks for healthcare chaplains, for the support that they are to both patients and families during life’s difficulties. Pray for them as they navigate our changing culture and as they continue to be salt and light where they work.

PCI Prayer Point 3: Moderator | Pray for the Moderator as he continues his moderator’s duties in the coming week when he joins in the celebrations for Edengrove congregation’s 250th anniversary and also leads the worship on Sunday at Drogheda Presbyterian Church. Pray for God’s blessing on the ministry and mission of both of these congregations and give thanks for their witness in their various communities.

  • As we pray let us remember the prayers we lifted to our Lord during our March Prayer Day in 2023. Reflect on God’s goodness as He continues to answer them in His will.  May we ask God to help us to be persistent in these prayers.

“And this is the confidence that we have towards him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.  And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him” 1 John 5 v 14,15

  1. Ask God to lead the parents of many of the children coming to our Parents and Toddlers, BB, GB and Holiday Bible Clubs, to bring their children to church and worship with us.
  2. Ask God to help us reach many of the ‘lost’ with the Gospel message, including those, who have lived in Carryduff for years, and those coming to live in the new housing developments.
  3. Ask God to help us be a welcoming church, always ready to share His love with those we meet.

Next Sunday (5th May):

SUMMER OUTREACH – Any young person from our congregation going on any kind of summer outreach is encouraged to fill in a form saying where they are going and what they are going to do.  You can get these forms from the Rev Smyth.

  • CONGREGATIONAL COMMITEE ELECTION – An election for a new Congregational Committee will take place on Sunday 21st & Sunday 28th April.  The list of names will only be displayed in the Stuart hall on both Sundays.  Please only use the voting papers supplied and then put your signed paper in the ballot box provided.  Voting will conclude after the evening service on Sunday 28th April.  If you have any questions please speak to the Clerk of Session, Ian Montgomery.
  • CHRISTIAN AID WEEK (12th – 18th May 2024) – Help needed! Over the last 15 -20 years, over £100,000 has been collected in the Christian Aid Week collection in Carryduff, with the money collected being used to alleviate poverty across the world. As happened in 2022 and 2023, this year CA envelopes will be delivered to many areas of Carryduff and these will NOT be collected! Those receiving an envelope and wishing to make a donation can return their envelope with donation to the Carryduff Pharmacy, Hillsborough Road, or to the Spar in Carryduff, Ballynahinch Road. Like last year, volunteers are needed (1) to write a short instruction on the envelopes detailing where the envelopes with donations can be returned, and (2) to deliver (NO collection!) envelopes to districts in Carryduff. The Writing part needs to be done this week (28 Apr-5 May), while the Delivering takes place in Christian Aid week (12-18 May). About 1 or at most 2 hours of your time would be required for each task. If you can help with the Writing, please add your name and phone number to the sheets in the church vestibule and in the hall foyer and Danny Todd will be in touch.
